Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic, immune‑mediated inflammatory liver disease characterized by interface hepatitis, elevated serum transaminases, presence of autoantibodies, and regulatory T‑cell (Treg) dysfunction. Preclinical AIH models recapitulate key pathological features, including T‑cell‑dependent hepatic injury, inflammatory infiltration, and loss of hepatic tolerance.
