Customized Animal Models of Retinal Detachment

As a research service provider, Ace Therapeutics is dedicated to developing customized animal models of retinal detachment (RD) to support preclinical studies of mechanism, efficacy, and delivery for neuroprotective and antifibrotic therapeutics, as well as gene- and cell-based therapies. We offer flexible, well-characterized in vivo and ex vivo platforms that enable early discovery, candidate selection, dose and regimen refinement, and longitudinal assessment across a wide range of preclinical study designs.

Pathophysiology of Retinal Detachment

RD is a sight-threatening condition defined as separation of the neurosensory retina from the retinal pigment epithelium, disrupting photoreceptor support and leading to rapid cell death and structural remodeling. Mechanistically, RD is commonly classified into rhegmatogenous, tractional, and exudative forms, according to the presence of retinal breaks, traction from fibrocellular or neovascular membranes, or subretinal fluid accumulation without a tear. Preclinical animal models of RD that recapitulate these key pathogenic mechanisms provide a controlled setting to interrogate disease pathways and to evaluate emerging therapeutic strategies.

Explore Our Animal Models of Retinal Detachment

Our preclinical RD model platform integrates multiple species, induction methods, and disease time courses into a flexible framework that can be aligned with different targets, modalities, and development stages. The portfolio spans acute and chronic RD, focal and more extensive detachments, and variable durations and severities, enabling study designs that range from short-term mechanism exploration to long-term structural and functional follow-up. Our RD models provide a versatile platform for evaluating a broad spectrum of retinal drug candidates, biologics, delivery systems, and ophthalmic devices, supporting researchers throughout preclinical research.
