As a preclinical research service provider, Ace Therapeutics develops customized animal models of uveitis aligned with your study objectives and the development stage of your candidate. We provide uveitis animal model customization services with fit-for-purpose study design and standardized ophthalmic assessments to characterize ocular inflammation and responses to test articles, supporting efficacy evaluation of ophthalmic drug candidates in relevant inflammatory settings and optimization of dosing regimens and endpoint selection across preclinical programs.
Uveitis comprises intraocular inflammatory disorders primarily affecting the uveal tract, including the iris, ciliary body, and choroid, and it may extend to the vitreous and retina. Based on the main site of inflammation, it is classified as anterior, intermediate, or posterior uveitis, while panuveitis involves multiple compartments. In each form, immune or infectious triggers drive leukocyte infiltration, cytokine release, and disruption of ocular barriers within the involved tissues, and this compartment-specific pathology provides a rational basis for selecting preclinical uveitis models and defining relevant endpoints.

Animal models of uveitis provide in vivo systems for examining ocular inflammatory processes and evaluating ophthalmic drug candidates for uveitis in preclinical research. We are dedicated to the development of customized animal models of uveitis across multiple species and induction paradigms. These uveitis animal models can be adjusted in inflammatory location, severity, disease course, dosing schedule, and ophthalmic endpoints. Each study can therefore be aligned with defined mechanistic questions and project goals. Our platform enables in vivo evaluation of drug efficacy, the durability of therapeutic effect, and the mechanism-of-action of ophthalmic drug candidates under well-characterized inflammatory conditions.
Using our uveitis animal models, Ace Therapeutics provides integrated services for efficacy evaluation, ocular safety assessment, and mechanistic studies. Our capabilities include ophthalmic assessments, ocular imaging, histopathology, and analyses focused on immunology and biomarkers to characterize ocular inflammation and responses of uveitis models to ophthalmic drug candidates.
| Service Category | Available Services |
|---|---|
| Ophthalmic Assessment | Slit-lamp examinations, fundoscopy, and intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements, with standardized scoring for anterior and posterior segment inflammation, vitreous haze and visible structural changes. |
| Ocular Imaging | Fundus photography and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to monitor retinal and choroidal structure, edema, vitreous involvement, and lesion progression over time. |
| Histopathology | Qualitative and semi-quantitative evaluation of inflammatory cell infiltration, tissue damage, and involvement of the retina, choroid, and other ocular tissues. |
| Immunology and Biomarker Analysis | Quantification of cytokines and chemokines in ocular fluids and tissues, together with cell profiling and molecular assays to characterize key inflammatory pathways relevant to uveitis. |
